Last year, when Meta Verified launched, it was one plan, one price. Easy(ish). But if you’re a business owner, marketer, or manage multiple accounts, you’ve probably hit a wall.
We sure did.
Here’s what went down:
Back in Sept 2023, we verified our agency’s Instagram under a personal account because, at the time, that was the only option. Fast forward to our brand refresh: we tried changing our profile photo. Should be simple, right? Wrong.
We got looped into a broken support cycle. Couldn’t change the image. Couldn’t switch anything in the Account Centre. Verification kept asking for personal ID, even though we’re a business.
Here’s what we uncovered (after way too many emails, chats, and support tickets):
📌 There are now up to 5 tiers of Meta Verified—creator, personal, business, and more. Each has different permissions.
📌 You cannot switch from Creator to Business mid-subscription.
📌 Meta support won’t tell you to cancel—it’s a sales thing. But we will.
Here’s the fix:
- Cancel your Meta Verified plan.
- Wait for the 30-day cycle to come up.
- Once your account is back to default, update your info and resubscribe—this time with the business tier and proper docs.
It’s clunky. It’s not as customer-friendly as we would like, but we wanted to share this information to save you time. We figured this out the hard way, so you don’t have to pull your hair out (or rage-post at 2 a.m.).
Hope it helps you or someone you know!
